General Information
The School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH) offers programs to prepare students for careers in nursing and dental hygiene, particularly for the state of Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Basin. The SONDH provides instructional, clinical and research activities to enhance the health and care of diverse populations in the State of Hawaiʻi and the Asia-Pacific region.
The Department of Nursing offers programs leading to the bachelor of science, master of science, DNP, and PhD nursing degrees. The department admits students to the undergraduate program both directly from high school and after completion of nursing prerequisites and UH Mānoa General Education Core requirements. An online pathway is available for associate degree nursing graduates to complete the baccalaureate. The school admits students to the graduate program with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
The Department of Dental Hygiene offers the bachelor of science degree. The program admits students following completion of dental hygiene prerequisite courses and the majority of UH Mānoa General Education Core requirements.

The SONDH vision is to be the leader in nursing and dental hygiene education and research in Hawaiʻi with outreach to Asia and the Pacific Basin.
Mission
The SONDH mission is to provide an innovative, caring, and multicultural environment in which faculty, students, and staff work together to generate and transmit knowledge, wisdom, and values to promote quality of life and health for present and future generations. The school is dedicated to enrich its programs by embracing Hawaiʻi’s rich cultural heritage and values.
